NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN ARTISTS, INC
FLORIDA CHAPTER WINTER 2010-2011
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Members,
It is an honor for me to serve as President of NAWA Florida Chapter for 2010-2012. Welcome back to all of our “snowbirds” and to everyone else, congratulations on surviving the warmest summer in the history of South Florida!
I?d like to thank Bernice Harwood for her committed and capable leadership as President of the Florida Chapter for the last four years. We are fortunate to have her continued support as Exhibition Chair for this season and next. As a result, our exhibits are committed through 2012 including a joint show with National at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach next year.
Our new Board of Directors is in place and I look forward to working with this talented group of artists in the coming months.
SAVE THE DATE - Our 1st board meeting, followed by a general meeting and educational demo, will take place on Thursday, December 9th at the Cornell Museum of Art & History. A separate notice will be sent to all members.
Our web site http://www.nawafl.com reflects our new board members' positions and contact information. Twenty five members currently have their artwork on our portfolio page and I would like to see that number increased to 100% participation. Send an email query to Glenn Heino, our Webmaster, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for specifics on how to submit your images and bio.
The Florida Chapter of NAWA has been involved in giving Scholarships to graduating high school art students toward the college of their choice since its inception. We plan to continue this worthwhile tradition.
A new member directory will be printed and mailed to all NAWA FL members this year.
I hope that everyone has entered our first show of the season titled “Illusions” which will take place at the Crest Theatre Galleries at Old School Square in Delray Beach. It runs from November 3rd through January 20, 2011 with an opening reception and awards presentation on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 6pm-8pm.
Also, do take advantage of the many exhibition opportunities presented through our
National headquarters at: http://www.thenawa.org
Input is welcome from each of you concerning your thoughts and ideas on any aspect of the operation of our NAWA FL chapter.
I look forward to a great season together.
Emalee Andre

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Welcome back to all our snowbirds, I hope you had a great summer. Those of us who stayed behind have been working diligently on plans for the new season’s exhibits. We have four planned, which will be explained further in this newsletter.
Not only did I attend the Symposium in Washington, D.C. in March, I attended the opening reception of N.A.W.A.’s Annual Exhibit in May at the Salmagundi Club in New York. I was pleased to see how many of Florida Chapter’s members had entered this exhibition. I’m proud to say that five of our members won awards, Wilma Bulkin Siegel, Jean Goddeau, Wendy Nicholas, Jo-Anne Sanborn and Lucinda Stockwell. Congratulations to all.
I also had the pleasure of attending NAWA’s Annual Luncheon at the National Art Club in Gramercy Park. Leona Moonie, our founder and Wilma Bulkin Siegel, Florida Chapter past president were also in attendance. It was a very special day.
We are upgrading our website. Our Webmaster, Glenn Heino, has placed permanent instructions on our website to simplify placing your artwork in the portfolio. There are 22 members signed up but we have many more members. Please participate. This website has had many hits. Look us up, NAWAFL.com.
Florida Chapter gave two Scholarships at the Crest Exhibit. We are proud to announce that one of the students was accepted at the University of Florida and the other was accepted to The Cooper Union.
